10 Days Honeymoon Tanzania Safari and Zanzibar

Overview

A contender for the trip of a lifetime, this adventure starts with wildlife viewing in the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, continuing to magical Zanzibar: the spice-scented, quintessential Indian Ocean idyll. Tropical, turquoise waters lap miles of palm-fringed, sandy beaches. For hundreds of years, traders and travelers have eulogized Zanzibar’s intoxicating aroma of spices, its beautiful beaches, and the bustle of its Moorish capital, Stone Tower.

You will be picked up from the airport by Am Realistic Tour and Safaris representative and conveyed to your accommodation in Arusha where you will overnight, relax, and prepare in anticipation of the adventures to come. On this day, depending whether you are overnight in you will meet with your Safari guide for pre – safari general briefing.

You will depart from Arusha in the morning and drive to the Tarangire National Park; where you will discover the true enormity of the deserted termite mounds and ancient baobab trees. The colossal herds of African elephants dominate the golden savannah and screeching flocks of the striking yellow collared lovebird can be heard from miles away. The wildlife
that roams the scenic landscape of the Tarangire includes lions, giraffes, warthogs, ostriches, impalas, cheetah, mongoose, buffaloes and baboons.

We will depart for the Serengeti National park right after breakfast. If you are lucky you may encounter the odd animal on route because we pass via the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Tanzania's oldest and most frequented national park, that is also a world heritage site and recently branded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Serengeti is renowned for the annual migration of the herds and ever growing wildlife population and it has been voted as the best national bark and safari destination in the world on Trip Advisor’s best of the bests awards 2021. We will enjoy a picnic lunch on one of the kopjes (rock outcropping). Our game drive will venture further into the park. After the game drive, we will proceed to the campsite where you will have an appetizing dinner before overnight at the lodge as per the itinerary.

Early morning game drives in case you are an early riser and then after breakfast leave with your packed lunch and head out to the plains in search of more animals and birds.your driver guide is always in contact with nature he knows much better where to take you spotting amazing things in the Serengeti including the Big Five of Leopards, Lions, Elephants, Rhinos and Buffaloes but also other large game like hartebeests, zebras, giraffes, as well as predators like cheetahs and the silver back jackals. Serengeti National Park is also home to over 500 species of birds recorded and therefore one of the birding hotspots in Africa. On this day, after a lunch break you will proceed with an evening session game drive and return to the lodge afterwards earlier so that you can have some time to prepare for your special private dinner in the Serengeti plains, we call it “Sundowner”.

On this day we will visit a natural wonder Ngorongoro crater. It has walls of about 2,000 ft high and its crater floor spreads for about 102 sq miles. The crater is inhabited by many animal species including; the rare black Rhinos, elephants, as well as the birds. It also contains a river, swamps, a soda lake on top which is also filled with flamingos plus a forest with open plains. You will then descend down to the crater floor to view more wildlife like the hippos and birds. Most animals remain within the crater due to its high walls. This is the perfect location to view every member of ‘The Big 5’ in one day. We will have a wonderful picnic lunch inside the crater. The unfilled caldera is also home to hyenas, hippo, zebra, wildebeest and an impressive variety of water birds. Your guide will enlighten you by sharing facts about the animals, vegetation and locating hidden animals.

Today we will go to Lake Manyara. This park is known for its breath taking panoramic views, waterfalls, babbling brooks with clear water and hot springs. We do a game drive in Lake Manyara all day and if you like to walk you can also do a walking safari. On foot you can enjoy giraffes, buffalo's and other animals from a good distance. In the afternoon we drive back to Arusha where we arrive before dinner.

When you arrive on Zanzibar, our local staff will pick you up and bring you to the hotel. The first night you will stay at the Shaba Boutique Hotel, which is located in a beautiful building in the heart of the old centre of Stone Town. In the afternoon (and/or the next morning) you can explore Stone Town. Walk through the narrow streets and capture the feeling of the old colonial Arabic Architecture. You can visit the former slave market, the Anglican Cathedral, the House of Wonders, or the old Arab fort.

Visitors love Nungwi, which has one of the most beautiful beaches on Zanzibar Island. Nungwi is also a top spot from which to watch the sunset. This was amajor boat-building center where they once made the traditional wooden sailing boats called dhows. You can learn about turtle conservation while you're here.

Depending on your flight schedule and departure point you will be transferred to the Zanzibar Airport to take a flight back home. If you are flying out of Dar es Salaam or Nairobi, we will arrange a connection flight for you to catch your flight back home.
